There is an incorrect edit in the 20th Century Masters version of this song. It occurs at 1:57 - the line "...you better wait..." The word is a lower note thanon the 45. It sounds as if the 45 was an edit of the extended version (which appears on the Motown Box), and they simply picked the wrong edit point and got the word "better" from the wrong part of the song. It's relatively easy to correct, except that the sonics of the two sources are quite different and it takes some fiddling. Also, the 45 fades a bit earlier than the 20th Century Masters verson. The correct 45 time is 2:27.

wow! amazing catch, Robert. I listened and like you write, the word "better" at that point is different on the mono 45 vs. the version on 20th Century Masters.

Has anyone taken that extended version on the all stereo Motown Box and edited it to match the 45? Hoping that is truly possible.

I am looking for this key #1 hit in it's proper 45 version in stereo. I
notice that the CD "Forever - The Complete Motown Albums
Volume 1 (Box Set)" has no comment beside the stereo version,
however upon listening, it is not the 45 version either. sigh.
Database needs updating.

I think the Time-Life CD "The Ultimate Oldies But Goodies
Collection - Susie-Q " should be checked as well.
