I just discovered I have something that may be unique on a promo sampler. It's the long, 6 1/2 minute version of Honey Cone's "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show," and it's mono. I assume this is Parts 1 & 2 as one long song. Strangely, though, it's labeled "Part 1." Pat lists the LP version as running at around 3:30, and lists a separate 45 mix, but I don't know if this mono mix is like the 45 mix or not.
The same CD (which is an MCA music publishing promo) also has "Stick Up" in mono, but LP length, and what I guess is the mono 45 version of of Want Ads, running 2:34, but this one is dead-center mono, not "E".
Anyone know if this long version of "One Monkey" has been issued elsewhere?

BRIAN! YES!
I had this on the prerecorded cassette tape version of the "Soul Tapestry" album from 1971. For some reason, it does not appear on the LP in that form.
As for "Stick Up" and "Want Ads", the 45s were dedicated mono mixes. To date, the true single mono mix of "Want Ads" has been issued on only one OOP CD. If you hear it in stereo, it's the wrong mix.
To my knowledge, the mono mix of "Stick Up" has never appeared on CD.

So the 45 version of this has yet to appear on CD (in mono or stereo).
Pat, is the version that is 0:14 longer just a longer fade?

There are database entries for Part 1 of this song labeled LP version and some labeled 45 version but running 14 seconds too long. My question is what is the difference between the 45 versions and the LP versions? They are both approximately the same lengths and both are in stereo.

I just checked my U.S. promo and compared it to my
Canadian copy (which seems to be the LP version) and the
difference begins at ~2:34. The U.S. single has lyrics
"ah, sookie, sookie", the Canadian/US LP does not have
those lyrics but has an edit that goes directly to the
final chorus. I didn't notice any obvious mix
differences.
My U.S. copy (Hot Wax HS7110) is mono, the Canadian copy
(Buddah 7110X) is stereo. The Canadian one has a white
label with a star on the part 1 side, but no promo
notation.
