I just picked up a DJ copy of "Cried Like A Baby" by Bobby Sherman. Sounds like there were two mixes of this song issued, this
promo copy has a louder vocal at least through the first chorus. My suspicion is that after the song was released, someone
determined that the Bobby's vocal was too loud (I'd agree) and the song was remixed with the vocal lower.

I don't know what is on the "Portrait of Bobby" vinyl LP but the K-TEL CD has the "lower vocal" mix, and my vinyl copy of
"Greatest Hits" on Metromedia has the "lower mix", so it existed long before the digital era.

Stereo side of the promo 45 is ZTS 222283 1B, Mono side is ZTSP 222401 1A. The mono side sounds like a fold down.

Unless I have this backwwards, and they WANTED a louder vocal for the 45.

If all stock copies have this louder vocal, then there is possibly a 45 mix and an LP mix.

I know where this promo came from. It is stamped "Property of the WCAO Music Library". Maybe I should return it!

Bill, please do that, and report back to us. It would surely be worth it, if only for the looks on the faces of station personnel, given WCAO's present format. My guess is that the response would not be "Praise the lord, Bobby strayed from the flock, but he hath returned!" ;)

The Lord works in mysterious ways...especially for the
WCAO Music Library.
