Not his greatest recording but still a top 40 hit in late
1979. Does anyone have the actual time for the commercial
45 of "Victim Of Love" and when the fade begins. This song
was not on my local radio stations and if it wasn't for
AT40 I would have never heard it. Also, was the 12" inch
version just the longer LP length (five minutes or so).

my commercial 45 issued as mca 41126 states the run time on
the label as 3:19 and does run that length....the fade
begins at the 3:09 mark

Interestingly, my stock 45 of "Victim Of Love" states a run time of 3:18. I timed it as running 3:18 (although it's hard to hear the final fadeout on my copy), but the fade seems to begin at 3:09 like Ed's copy.

For some reason I've always liked this odd record - it's catchy in a weird way to me. Does anyone have a single edit mp3 they could share? This is one of those I've hunted down for years without success. :)
Thanks,
Frank

The upcoming Deluxe Edition of the Elton John "Diamonds"
compilation looks like it MAY have the 45 version of
"Victim of Love" on disc three. iTunes lists the run
time as 3:22, which is close and could include blank
space at the end of the track. But unclear whether this
will be the real deal or "a noble attempt at recreating
the 45 version."

Please remind me but the 45 is just an early fade of the longer LP version correct (no edits required)?

I think so, but the LP version is segued from the previous
track, and it's not quite possible to recreate it perfectly
without dubbing in the opening note from the 45.
