has anyone been able to re-create the vinyl 45 version from
the cd version?...the cd versions run 4:20 while the 45
runs 3:20....

actually, the vinyl 45 is just an early fade of the full
length 4:20 cd/lp version....if you start the song on the
downbeat and edit off the tail of the song before and then
fade for 0:09 from 3:11 to 3:20, you can effectively re-
create the vinyl 45 version from the lp version....

My copy is a U.K. press on the Charisma label, so this info may not apply to the U.S. issue on 20th Century. The LP version features sound effects on the intro that have been mixed out on the 45. Therefore, the :11 intro on the 45 is unique and the single version cannot be faithfully recreated without it. There are no pitch variations, and it runs 3:28. The 45 intro spliced at :11 where the instrumentation kicks in, and an :11 fade beginning at 3:17 will get you the single version. Also, you must use the original 1976 mix, not the 1987 remix of which Alan Parsons is inexplicably so fond.

vinyljay69......you are correct.....upon further review, my
us commercial release also removes the noise under the
guitar
riff during the intro removed.....what a friggin pain in
the a**.....it never will cease to amaze why they do some
of these things to us!!

has anyone been able to successfully tack on the vinyl 45
intro to the cd version to re-create the proper digital 45
version?
