I'm getting real close to completing the second part
of my 45 collecting odyssey...a few years ago i
completed my first leg of collecting by acquiring
every top 40 song in it's original single
format......8,774 original 45's from 1955 thru 1989,
1,272 cassette single from 1990 thru 1996, 845 cd
singles from 1997 thru 2001 and every song afterwards
in either cd/lp, cd single or digital download form up
through this weeks billboard top 40 charts for august
5, 2017.........BUT....i am missing 37 songs of the
the 13,456 songs that have made the chats from 1955
through 2017 in it's cd/lp version BUT not in it's 45
single
version.....if anyone has any of the below songs in
their 45 version as either a digital re-creation or a
great quality vinyl restoration, i'd love to hear them
and possibly add to complete my quest.....thx

Ed, what is the difference between the single and album
versions of The Tymes' "People," other than stereo/mono?
Because the original album is available as a download from
Sony.

brian....sorry for not getting you an answer sooner re the
tymes 'people'.....i only have a cdr of the song dubbed
years ago and i do not know what cd it came from......it
sounds like a newer re-recording of the song and clearly
not the original version......the cdr file i have runs 3:25
in length.....does anyone have the
original cd/lp version that i could compare to my vinyl
45?.....my 45 runs 3:15 in length.......i see the version
available on itunes only runs 3:07....

Ed... re: Tymes - People
I just compared the LP version with a 45 dub. The LP runs
slower than the 45 and fades much earlier.
But the real big difference is the mix. The 45 is a
dedicated mix with lots more reverb.
The 45 also has a extra drum overdub. It is a loud snare
overdub with big reverb on it. This is missing from the LP
version.

The "Be" from Soundtrack for a Century isn't the 45. The 45 runs (5:31).

I've been assembling what I have for Project: Ed over the last week, but see that most of those ships have since sailed. So to save time for others, here's what I'm still working on:
Faith, Adam - 1965 - It's Alright [U.S. 45]
Mendes, Sergio - 1968 - Scarborough Fair [full-length mono 45]
Knight, Gladys - 1973 - Where Peaceful Waters Flow [45]
Diamond, Neil - 1973 - Be [45]
Foghat - 1977 - I Just Want To Make Love To You [live 45]
(While I do have a copy of Mel Carter's "Band Of Gold" 45, it's in nowhere near good enough shape.)
Once those are done, I'll be posting my own list:
"6,924 Songs Needed To Finish My Collection." ;)
