my cassingle issued as giant 18686 contains, on the A-side the "album walk" version which runs 4:15.....and is identical to the version from the full length cd titled

(S) (4:43) Giant 24466 Jade To The Max (LP version)

except the first 0:30 or so of introduction talk is edited out....this info should be noted in the db....

I just picked up a promo CD single I had never seen before. It's a 3-track promo with a "Radio Edit." Here are the full details:

Giant (PRO-CD-5803)
1. Radio Edit (listed 4:07; actual 4:06)
2. Album Walk (listed 4:19; actual 4:15)
3. Instrumental Walk (listed 4:11; actual 4:09)

I have another promo CD single (the more common one), and here are its contents:

Giant (PRO-CD-5926)
1. Pop Walk (listed 3:41; actual 3:38)
2. Album Walk (listed 4:18; actual 4:43)

The Album Walk on PRO-CD-5926 is the full LP version with the spoken "answering machine" intro, whereas this has been removed on the 3-track promo CD version.

Our radio station always played the "Pop Walk." This is mostly an edit of the LP version, but there is a short section during the breakdown toward the end where the instrumental was spliced in. The "Radio Edit" is a straight edit of the LP version (no instrumental spliced in), and it removes about :09 of the breakdown.

Aaron is this radio edit the same version as what appears on the JCI or Time-Life cd's that have a run time of (4:04) or (4:03)?

Pat, I just listened to the version on Only Rock And Roll 1990-1994, and yes, this version is identical to the promo CD single. The run time difference is because there are a couple additional seconds of very low audio on the fadeout of the promo.
