So, this singer Jay Black was the original vocalist on this track yet not the original singer for Jay and The Americans.
I have always liked Blacks work with The Americans. His operatic trained voice always stood out as a cut above, IMHO.
This version for a benefit I suppose was just about as spot-on as anyone could ask for. I hope it got a lot of pledges for whatever the event was.

I wonder if that was one of the TJ Lubinsky produced PBS

Every time I played the record on the radio station I worked at, I would lip sync along. My former co-workers still
kid me about it to this day!

Yes the clip is from one of the PBS My Music specials hosted by Jerry Butler and Frankie Valli.
Jay Black always had a terrific sense of humor (as you can see in the clip) along with that amazing voice.

song in The Netherlands...in 1980!
