my commercial 45 sounds different than the lone cdr version
i have and after listening to the whole song, there is
definitely a mix difference.....my commercial 45 issued as
mercury 71696 starts with the vocals at 0:05 of the track
as 'love, walked right in and drove the shadows
away...'...the cdr version i have and all the ones i have
downloaded, start at the 0:05 mark with the lyrics 'well,
love, walked, right in and drove the shadows
away...'.....question is, do any of the 3 cd's in the db
contain the beginning lyrics WITHOUT the word, 'well' and
the start......

The 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection CD

I didn't realize this song has never been discussed on this board before. The 45 version and stereo LP version are different recordings. (I don't know what's on the mono LP.)

The Two Of Us album was issued on CD in 1995 with the single version of "Love Walked In" (in mono) as one of the bonus tracks. It appears from the many listings on eBay that it is still in print. I don't have the physical CD; I only purchased this one track from Canadian iTunes, so I don't know if this CD was issued in the United States, either in physical form or digitally.

I just realized that the CD mentioned in the above post (Verve 314526467) is actually listed in the database, but only under "Baby (You've Got What It Takes)". This CD also contains both the stereo LP version and the 45 version of "Love Walked In". The omission might be because, although it is credited to Dinah Washington & Brook Benton, it also contains solo tracks by each.

paul c.....thanks for the tip....i just bought the mono
version on amazon and after A/B'ing it, i can confirm that
this version is the same as my commercial 45 starting with
'love' and not 'well, love'........this cd should be added
to the db and the other cds updated to reflect the 'lp'
version.....thanks again, paul c....

I have ordered a mono copy of the vinyl LP "The Two Of Us" so upon arrival I can determine if the 45 = the mono LP version. Until then I have changed the database listing to call all stereo versions the "stereo LP version".

Just to finish this one up, my commercial 45, confirmed as Mercury 71696
with machine-stamped deadwax of "YW 19774 4", has a listed time of (2:10)
and an actual time of (2:11).

The "stereo LP versions" noted in the db all run shorter than the song's mono
version, at either (2:07) or (2:08). The lone mono db entry runs (2:13), so my
(2:11) 45 was either sped up a little bit or it was simply faded :02 earlier.
