Curiously, does the cassette have the spoken part over the intro? Original promo copies of this had the spoken intro, but about mid-chart run of the song we received a CD-R containing a version with that part removed (noted as "AC mix").

Although I do not own the cassingle, I'm 99.9% certain that the no talking intro was a radio/promo edit only.

my cassingle has the spoken words starting with "yea" at (0:02), "i wish i told how i feel" at (0:09), "maybe she'd be here right now" at (0:13), and "but instead" at(0:18)...music starts at (0:23)...is this the spoken intro you're referring to?

Yes. On the promo "AC edit" the :23 intro is just the instrumental.

Does anyone own a copy of the CD-R with the AC edit? If so, can this edit be
replicated by tacking on the instrumental intro from the Maxi single?

I just pulled the promo CD singles I have for this one:

LFPCD-4115
1. Radio Edit (listed 4:22; actual 4:24)
2. Untouchables Flava Edit (listed & actual 4:21)
3. Rich Single Edit (listed & actual 4:22)
4. Eddie F.'s Untouchable Edit (listed 4:22; actual 4:23)
5. Album Instrumental (listed 5:08; actual 5:07)

LFPCD-4150
1. A/C Edit (actual 4:17)*

*This disc is a factory-pressed plain silver disc with no printing anywhere on it. The catalog number is indicated on the matrix/inner ring.

The A/C Edit takes the first :21 of the Album Instrumental and replaces the first :21 of the Radio Edit. This should've been a seamless edit, but the person who created it goofed and edited out half of a beat.

If you have the stock CD single with the Album Version and Album Instrumental, here's how to create the Radio Edit:

1. Remove the section from 4:01 to 4:23, making the edit just before the word "lonely" in both places.
2. With what you have remaining, delete from 4:24 to end.
3. Do a bell-curve fade from 4:04 to 4:24.

To create the A/C edit, starting with the radio edit:
1. Paste the first :21 seconds of the instrumental onto the same segment of the Radio Edit.
2. Remove the bongo at :21. Make the edit from the beginning of the bongo beat to the next guitar note.

I was just noticing if you listen to the A/C Edit carefully, it sounds like they overlapped the segments of the instrumental version and the radio edit. It's very evident on the :20 mark after the "goof edit" where there's a slight raise in volume level before the first words of the song start. It also sounds a tad-bit sped up too compared to the speed of the album version or radio edit.
