I just emailed someone I know at Varese Sarabande who's extremely knowledgable about single mixes and asked him about this one. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I'm late getting back to the party, but I finally had a
chance to evaluate Jim's dub of the vinyl LP and I can
confirm that it is the one and the same mix that is on the
45, right down the long fade and exact time of (3:15).

And EdisonLite is right about the EQ on the vinyl LP, like
most mid-80's records it has a very hot high-end and so
does the 45. So the word muffled shouldn't be anywhere
near this album.

Ok, I should have done this a few days ago. On youtube
there are several postings of the 12" remix from vinyl. I
just listened to it. Here's the scoop:

The track 11 "single mix" is actually a shorter edit of
the 12" remix. I assume created for the promo 12" or
whatever to be a "radio mix" of the 12" remix (even
though I found no editions in Discogs of the vinyl 12"
single that included a shorter edit).
Perhaps this mix was prepared for the commercial 45 but
not used for it, yet remained labeled as such.

Nonetheless, I believe the mixing credits on the Varese
CD are mistaken. The "single mix" and the 12" remix are
the same mix so they have to be by the same remixer. The
12" is credited to Jellybean so ... the shorter one is by
him too.

That leaves 45/LP mix by Don Gehman. I figure back in
'85, they started with some mix we never heard, Don
remixed it, they liked his mix, they put it on the
single, and then said let's just use that on the album
too? It's just one guess of many but that's my theory.

But the definite description of track 11 on this CD is
"edit of the 12" single".

Thanks for the update, Mark. I should be receiving the CD in the mail any day now. I was really hoping for a 3rd mix. Too bad there isn't any.
