Came across a 45 dub on YouTube from a Press 45 that seems
to run slower than what's in stereo out there. Does the 45
run slower? Also, is the 45 a dedicated mono mix or fold
down?

I just checked my promo copy of the Press Records 45 and it does run longer than the cd versions in the database. The 45 is 2:57 and is mono. I'm not sure if it's a fold down or a dedicated mono mix.

John, yes, the Press 60002 45 is a dedicated mono mix, unlike the Black Is Black mono LP title track (Press 73003), which is a fold down of the stereo LP mix. My stock 45 runs 2:58; the mono LP track is done at 2:56.
Mike Kogel's lead vocal has more reverb on the 45, where it's pretty well balanced with the backing track. On the mono LP, the instrumentation sounds wimpier because Mike's singing is pushed much farther forward. The bass is also more prominent on the mono 45, though its still not exactly strong. The overall 45 mix sounds comparatively muffled.

Any sightings of the mono 45 on an import CD?

Thus far, all CD versions I have seen were Stereo.
