I've had the Renaissance release of Tane Cain's album for a while, but I just picked up the new Rock Candy release because the Renaissance was mastered from vinyl. For starters, the Rock Candy release sounds a bit brick walled, but even more importantly, all the songs are quite a bit slower and run about 7 to 10 seconds longer than on the Renaissance CD. For instance, "Holdin' On" runs 3:12 on Renaissance, and 3:22 on Rock Candy. Based on the database listing the correct run time as 3:14, it almost seems to me as if the Rock Candy release is actually mastered too slow (to my ear, it actually has that messed up vinyl groove sound to it).
Not sure what the correct speed is supposed to be, but to my ears, the Rock Candy release sounds too slow!

All of these statements seem to contradict each other, so I'm not sure which one runs too slow (or too fast).

Ha. Sorry, aaron. I mixed up my R labels as I was writing. Fixed it. The Rock Candy release is slow.
