does anyone know if the 45 version of chicago's song "does anybody really know what time it is?" is available on cd...........the only difference, i can detect, is the spoken words which start at the 2:13 point and conclude at the 2:31 mark........they are on the cd version but ARE NOT on the 45 version..........the words start at the 2:13 saying "people running everywhere..."

everything else about the 45/cd versions that run 3:19 are identical..........

I have a feeling Yah Shure is about to give us the complete rundown of all the various versions. I thought I might ask an additional question in case he is now timing his 45s and LPs. Does the 2:53 promo edit actually run 2:53? If not, what is the actual run time? (Wait, that's two questions. Ah, well...)

Thanks, John!

Aaron, the stereo/mono 2:53 DJ 45 without the talking actually does run 2:53 on the stereo side. The mono side - along with the mono 2:53 Columbia Hall Of Fame reissue - has a barely-audible first note at the tail end of the fade of what is, in actuality, a four-note trumpet tape bleed-through*,
which would extend its actual time to 2:54. But in all honesty, this last "bonus second" is of no practical use, so even for our purposes, I'd say it runs 2:53 as well.

* = The entire four-note trumpet tape bleed-through - although, again, barely audible - can be heard on the vinyl Greatest Hits LP track.
