If anyone has the 45 version of this song, do you have run time, differences from the LP version etc.

A terrific, underrated pop gem from '83, and the follow-up to the also underrated "We Two".
The 7" has a printed run time of 3:46 and an actual run time of 3:48. I also have the 7" edit on a commercially available 12" single (Capitol 8566).
The 7" edit can easily be created from the LP version on the greatest hits (24-bit remastered version, Capitol 72435-21911-2-3, 2000) The remastered greatest hits is mastered way too loud and all tracks are maximized, but at least you can get the song. (I don't know if The Net is in print on CD.)
Here are instructions, using my timing from the Gr Hits CD:
Keep 0:00.0-3:24.3 of the LP version.
Edit two beats before where the downbeat would fall - it's at the beginning of the odd off-beat drum fill.
Remove the 80 beats from 3:24.3-4:07.1.
Keep the 42 beats from 4:07.1-4:29.6, with a 24-beat fade from 4:16.7-4:29.6.
Your mixdown will have a run time of 3:46.8, with an edit at 3:24.3 and a 24-beat fade from 3:34-3:46.

i am trying to make my own edit based on your instructions, but I just can't
get it (without hearing the actual edit).
Would you share an MP3 of your edit, or send me a 45 dub so I could make
my own from the LP version?
thanks,
p.s...your PM box is full, so posting this here.

thanks Ron.
When I listen to the LP version, it sounds quite clunky at the point of the 45
edit, like it gives up its beat for a moment. The 45 sounds smoother to me.

Agreed. The LP version skips a beat or a portion of a
beat, which is very odd. Can't tell if was recorded that
way or if it has a bad edit. The 45, which has an actual
edit in it, sounds much more natural.

A very elusive song on U.S. CD, there are currently only TWO listings in the on-line database. However, "You're Driving Me Out of My Mind"'s original parent album - 1983's The Net - isn't among them. It was put out on CD here in the U.S. in 1996 on One Way 19077, at the same time most of LRB's other back catalog was re-issued by the label. (In fact, it has consecutive catalog nos. w/ 1981's Time Exposure, which was One Way 19078, and is already in the database.) Of course, the album actually features an ADDITIONAL top 40 hit, "We Two", which was the preceding single. This CD is long out-of-print and pretty rare, though; it appears used copies currently fetch about $40-$60 when they turn up. Photos on Discogs: LITTLE RIVER BAND - "The Net" (U.S. CD)

I found a copy of Rhino's 2-CD Reminiscing The Twentieth Anniversary Collection (1994). It's SPECTACULAR. The sound quality is even better than I expected, especially for the older tracks. I tend not to rave much over single-artist collections, but this one is most definitely worth hunting down.
Reminiscing has the LP version of "You're Driving Me Out Of My Mind". To create the 45 edit, remove the 80 beats from 3.24.8-4.07.6 from Reminiscing, then add a 24-beat fade from 3.34.4-3.47.2.
