although not in the db because of it's low charting peak
position of #40 in the spring of 1979, sylvester's song "i
(who have nothing)" issued as fantasy 855 states the run
time on the label as 3:59 but actually runs
4:14....question i have is....can the 45 version be
edited from any of the full length 11:13 versions of the
song issued on a few disco compilations......

I also
would like to know if an edit is possible. There's no way
the 45 is an early fade (that would be too easy).

You're right Santi, that would have been way too easy.
The 45 has quite a few edits, but I was able to extract
the 45 edit from it...with one exception:
The 11:13 long version is missing about 5 secs of audio
found in the 45. About 2/3 way thru, there is a short
drum break on the 45 from 2:56 - 3:02. It's only 12
beats.
The much longer drum break in the album version sounds
similar but those 12 beats never occur in it, the
percussion hits are unique to the 45. So I had to lift
that segment from the 45.
The rest is all in the LP version, and it's the same mix.
I suspect all the different lengths of this are edited
from some way longer version, and they just used
different segments of a very long percussion break.
Hope that helps for anyone in future thinking of sitting
down and tackling this one, maybe I saved them a
frustrating hour trying to find those 12 beats. :-)

The 12" single released back in 1979 had a short version on
one side and a long version on the other. The long version
is the eleven-minute version on the LP (Mark mentions
above). The short version appears on the 2023 Real Gone
Music 2CD set titled Disco Heat: The Fantasy Years 1977-
1981. That same 2CD set also includes the 12" disco
versions of Dance (Disco Heat) and You Make Me Feel (Mighty
Real).
