I just recently purchased Essential Cyndi Lauper so I would have "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" on CD, and it has the LP soundtrack version of the song. Does anyone know if the 45 was an edit of the LP or a completely different mix?

From what I can tell, the 45 is just an edit of the soundtrack version.

the 45 version of "the goonies R good enough" is only available on the 3 cd import "the great cyndi lauper"........the version from the soundtrack runs 3:38 while the import 3 cd set it runs 3:27.......the difference is that the first vocal on the 45 is at the 0:25 mark while the soundtrack version's first vocal is at the 0:37 mark........the 45 which runs 3:27 is NOT just an early fade of the cd version....

I dug out my old 45 of "Good Enough" and I found that it is NOT an edit... If you listen carefully to the 45 from 0:20 to 0:24, you'll notice how that section of music is not anywhere to be found on the intro to the soundtrack version. On the 45, pay close attention to the synthesizer right before Cyndi's vocals start; it is absent before the vocals on the soundtrack version. So, you cannot simply edit the soundtrack version to make the 45 version.

I picked up the Great Cyndi Lauper set last weekend specifically for Goonies and it is indeed the correct 45 version. Interestingly, pretty much all of the other tracks on the set are the LP versions.

I just picked up a copy of The Great Cyndi Lauper and as 99wlol said, most of the other tracks on the set are LP version.
I did notice that "I Drove All Night" clocks in at 4:40 yet the database doesn't make notice of this version on a domestic CD and there is no note of a difference between the LP or 45 version. All appearances in the database are 4:10.
Does anyone know what this 4:40 version is?
Thanks.

Is it possible I Drove All Night includes the 'intro' from the Night to Remember album? That runs about 30 seconds an segues right into I Drove All Night on the original album.

Amazing that it took me nearly 30 years to discover I did not have the 45 version. Just picked up the 45 at a flea marker for fiddy cents along with some other gems the other day :)
