The 45 was a *remix* of the *original* vinyl LP version.

I think the first time I heard the remix was on "American Top 40". To the best I can remember, around here the original LP version is what got the most airplay.
I think I prefer the original LP version of this tune because that's what I most often heard when the song was on the charts, but I also have the 45 with the remix and it's not bad.
Some remixes are a lot better that the album version (Billy Joel's "Keeping the Faith", for example), other are no better than equal.
