Ed, the only CD I can locate this song on is on one of the "glut" of now-
public-domain-in-Europe, import compilations. 4 CDs. It is titled: "The
First U.S. Top 100 - November 12, 1955". This one came out only
recently, in November 2013. It has *all* 100 songs to appear that week,
with Georgie Shaw being far from the only "elusive on CD" track to appear.
(Although one Amazon reviewer says he only got a 2-CD set, not 4, with
only 50 total tracks. My guess is a label packaging error.)
These comps are truly hit-and-miss, as to sound quality, from track to
track. Some sound excellent, and some sound downright poor. And it's
usually based on what tracks have already appeared on other CDs. (Which
CDs like this use for their audio source.) And since it seems that the
Georgie Shaw track hasn't shown up on CD before, it's almost certain that
a vinyl dub would've been used here.
Since the set is under 20 bucks, and a lot of these comps don't remain
available for too long, I'm gonna take a shot on it, Ed. I'll keep you
updated.
