Even though it's not listed in the database, it ranked at #39 on the Hot 100 and 11 on the R&B chart in 1976.
Does anyone have a copy of the commercial or promo 45 to provide an actual run time? The label on both says 3:28.

Plus has anyone found the 45 version on CD? So far all I've seen is the LP version (that runs over four minutes) on CD.

The 45 edit does not exist on CD but I have the 45. I
have to look for it to give you an exact run time. Years
ago, however, I recreated the 45 edit from the CD album
length.
I used the "Gratitude" remastered CD for reference.
Here's the instructions for recreating the 45 edit:
1) Keep the two quick drumstick clicks at the beginning.
2) Edit out first four bars up to :13 seconds. Your edit
should be at the beginning of the four-note musical
build.
3) Keep the song up to 3:04. Edit on the downbeat and
remove section up to 3:19.
4) Start abrupt fade at 3:45 and end at 3:53

It helped me some. I just wanted to know if the 45 edit had appeared on CD yet. I'm not attempting an edit myself tho. I can live with the LP version for now.

Confused. Do I need to work backwards--my file's already
(3:42) before I can even fade from (3:45) to (3:53)?

Oh, wait, when I wrote my instructions, I didn't take the
edits into account, and I was visually going through the
clock. Sorry.
Start your fade at 3:18 and end it at 3:25.

The edit may exist on CD after all. Check track 12 on
either of the following two discs already in the database:
Eclipse Music Group 64667 Whole Lotta...Soul: 1976-1977
Eclipse Music Group 64667 R&B Relix 1976-1977
Stumbled upon this just today. Don't know how I missed it
prior. These releases are from the late '90s. The track
runs (3:27).
