Does anybody know if radio faded out of this song before the last two lines, or did this single usually air in its entirety?

I've heard this song since it was first released and JUST TONIGHT caught what Mick sings at the end. Apparently it wasn't a surprise to ABC, who censored it when the Stones played the Superbowl.

I don't see any listings for anything other than the album version; I wondered if any promos faded a hair earlier.

Gene,

Near as i remember anytime hearing it on top 40 type
radio, it always cut out before the end lines.
Same thing when i heard it later on Hot A/C.

Rock radio was different tho, in fact WBAB on long island
used to crank the end to make sure you didn't miss a word.

Radio tends to fade it out now following the Janet Jackson Superbowl wardrobe slip which started stronger enforcement on alleged offensive material on TV and radio by the FCC.

But until that point I always played the whole thing on the air, including when the song was a hit on Top 40 radio, as the line could have more than one meaning.

I never saw a shorter promo.

I own the "Start Me Up" promo 45. The mono (deadwax "RS - 40243 - 1"
and the stereo sides (deadwax "STRS - 40243 -1") both have a listed and
actual time of (3:32). The line in question, "You, you make a dead man c*m"
is actually sung by Mick Jagger twice. The first time, it is at full 45 volume.
The second time, it is during the fade, but can still be clearly heard. Bill
Cahill is correct, as usual. Nothing shorter for the promo. Or removed,
either. My promo 45 includes the song's full length, with both the mono and
stereo sides featuring both sings of this final lyric.
