My commercial 45, confirmed as Philips 40229, with machine-stamped
deadwax info of "PHW 33141 2", has a listed time of (2:00), but an actual
time of (1:57). In and of itself, that info is no biggie. But all 8 of the
current db CDs that include this song, regardless of whether they are in
mono, stereo or (E), all run more than a full minute longer, at either (3:01)
or (3:02).

I know my 45 copy is not a "fluke", as my vintage 1955-1994 BB Pop
Annual, which I still love the most, dog-eared and all, because it includes
both song timing and label/catalog # info in it, also states (2:00) in it, for
a timing.

If no one can quickly assist here, I can always ask my buddy Aaron for
help. But he's a busy guy, and I'm hoping someone else here can come to
the rescue instead!   :)

Clearly the album version, my mono vinyl "Golden Greats"
LP also has the 3:01 version on it. 3 minutes was on the
long side for a single in 1964. I don't have the single,
nor do I ever recall hearing it on the radio.

Is the 45 an edit of the LP or an early fade of the LP?

Pat, like I asked earlier, hopefully someone can come to our aid. As you've
long known, I am not good at such things.....

In looking at the wave pattern on file on my computer, there look to be a couple of logical editing points, but they would only remove 48 seconds from the 3:01 version. Perhaps the edit and an early fade?

I just compared the 45 dub with the full length version,
and I can report the 45 is early fade of the LP .. no
edits.

How strange that the record label felt the need to take a 3:01 length song and fade it out more than a full minute early for 45 release!
