Ed, I checked for a promo CD single for you, and I found one, but I need
to clarify a few things things first. Dozens of previous times in my promo
CD single travels, always involving the WB/Elektra/Atlantic (WEA) family of
labels, I will own copies of two different promo CD single releases, for the
same song. One will feature the fancy "silkscreen art work" on the disc's
face. The other copy is exactly the same, in every way, except for two
things: 1) A generic, silver CD "face" replaces the silkscreen, and 2) A
unique promo CD single "stock #" exists for each. Far more troubling,
however, is that I've found several "mis-matches", where the insert's
"stock #" *doesn't* match the "stock #" on the disc itself. When this
happens, without specifics included on disc face itself, how do I know
what *truly* is on the disc I own? Therefore, whenever I post findings on
here, just to be sure, I always eyeball both, just to make sure *both*
pieces of info match up.
First, here's what it says for the song, according to the paper insert inside
the CD's jewel case (with no listed times, and there is absolutely *no*
mention of Kelis anywhere):
-Ol' Dirty Bastard--"Got Your Money" (PRCD 1435-2)
1-Pop Radio Edit (Extended Intro)
2-Pop Radio Edit
3-Clean Version
Now to the disc itself. It includes a custom silkscreen design on top, and
clearly says "(Featuring Kelis)" below the song title. There are *no* other
track details indicated on this CD's face. And It *does* have a different
"promo stock #" than was listed on the insert. It turns out that it does also
include 3 tracks. I have timed them, and here are the details:
-Ol' Dirty Bastard--"Got Your Money" (Featuring Kelis) (PRCD 1386-2)
1-(actual time 4:06)
2-(actual time 4:01)
3-(actual time 3:59)
Now for the "milion dollar question." Do the insert's track info match my
disc's actual contents, despite the different "promo stock #'s", and the
Kelis omission on the insert? My conclusion, with 95% certainty, is still
"Yes." And here's why:
1-Track 1 on the disc itself *does* feature an "extended intro", versus
Track 2 (a :10 long intro for Track 1; just a :05 long intro for Track 2.)
2-No "remix" production details appear, either on the insert, or on the
CD's face. That is almost always noted, if a "guest rapper" appears on
some tracks, but not on others.
3-Both the insert and the disc itself state "Produced By The Neptunes."
4-Both the insert and the disc itself include 3 tracks.
Therefore, if this is enough evidence for Pat (and the rest of our
community, for that matter) to jointly combine the two sets of details
above, please feel free to. I suppose the two "clincher" facts here would be
either: 1) if anyone else actually *does* own the PRCD 1435-2 promo
*disc* itself, can share its details, and see if they match up with my PRCD
1386-2 details, or 2) If anyone knows the song well enough to know if
Kelis *does* happen to appear on some versions of this song, but not
others.
Whew!!!! I'm not a drinker, but I think I need a beer! :)

Jim, absolutely amazing information, sir! I can say with 99.9% certainty that the disc you own does contain the exact three versions on the back insert, even though the catalog numbers are different. I found a picture of the disc and insert online (pictured together in the same photo), and I can see that the back insert says "1435" while the disc says "1386."
Additionally, I have never heard any officially released remixes of "Got Your Money"--just clean versions of the original mix, all which feature Kelis.
In my travels, I have also seen (but do not own) a 1-track promo CD for this song. It contains the "Clean Version," which is track 3 of your promo, Jim. I'll try to keep an eye out for it and buy it when I find it.

I'm not sure if anyone on this board cares much about Ol' Dirty, but I do happen to have promo CD singles for his first two Hot 100 charting songs.
"Brooklyn Zoo" (went to #54 in 1995)
PRCD 9108-2
1. Clean LP Version (listed 3:49)
2. Clean Lord Digga Remix (listed 3:55)
"Shimmy Shimmy Ya" (went to #62 in 1995)
PRCD 9212-2
1. Extended Version-Clean (listed 3:40)
2. LP Version-Clean (listed 2:43)
PRCD 9276-2
1. Studio Ton Mix (listed 4:10)
If anyone does actually care about the timings on these, I'll be happy to pop them in and check.

Adding to the mix....I have PRCD-1386-2, listed on the promo CD package as well as on the CD itself. It has one track listed as "Amended Version". It has an actual time of 4:02 and Kelis is definitely singing on this version.
For those interested in a "deadwax" number, on the inner circle of the CD these appear "Y8991 2 PR 1386-2 01 M1S2".
This may be like some other CD's with the same number, but different number of tracks and/or versions.
Jim, if you want a beer let's hook up and we'll go to McSorley's in NYC. First round is on me....

Thanks, Tom!!! This is exactly the promo I was thinking of, and given that the catalog number is PRCD-1386, it makes sense why the other promo has that catalog number listed on the insert by accident.
