the 45's face states the run time as 3:59 but really runs 3:53 like all the tracks in the db.....this should be noted.....

According to Abagon, his commercial 45 copy of Bryan Adams' "Run To You" is 3:51, not 3:59 as stated on the record label. I wonder if we're dealing with two different 45 pressings here? The matrix number on Abagon's copy is: P A&M-AM-02686-A(RE1)P-2.

I have what I consider a baffling discovery about the 12" of this song.

The cover of the 12" clearly says "Specially Remixed Version -- Original version appears on the A&M album Reckless."

However, playing it back I heard no differences from the LP / single version. Playing it back IN SYNC with the LP / single version (from Bryan Adams' "So Far So Good" greatest hits collection), it appears identical.

Is anybody aware of any mix differences in this so-called "specially remixed version" or know the story behind it? Did the LP / single version accidentally go on the 12", or did the remixed version end up on the LPs and singles?

I'm baffled as to what happened here... but it does NOT sound like any sort of a remix compared to what we're all used to hearing.

Oh yes,

i forgot about being BURNED on this 12" purchase... as i
did with many "import" 12" in the 80's.
No, Gene, it's idetical and there never was a remix or
extended version, they simply LIED on the cover!
I got ripped to the tune of 6-7 bucks on several 12" that
did the same thing.
The UK 12" for Mr. Mister's "Kyrie" clearly read
"extended version" . get it home, it was the US 45
version.
Same for Kenny Loggins' "Footloose" .. 45 version but
clearly marked "extended" on the jacket.

I didn't even care when they did a lame rip-off
extension... i bought a few tracks where they did like 10
extra seconds of instrumental in the intro, then spliced
to the normal mix. At least that was *technically*
truely extended!
But this one was lie, along with too many others to list.

-angry consumer
(oh and yes, when it was possible, i did go and demand my
money back .... but alas many stores had a "no return on
imports" policy.)

Unbelievable... well, that certainly explains it. Thanks for the info!

I'm like you: I'd like a 12-minute complete re-working of the song, but if you're going to splice in 10 seconds (I'm looking at you, Sly Fox!), OK, I'll bite.

Many album versions and even single versions made it on to 12"... I can understand the convenience... but don't label it as something special when it's not!

...I know, I'm preaching to the choir...

Thanks for the reply.
