The 45 is an early fade of the LP.
I may be nitpicking, but I did notice, that there is about 1.5 seconds or so more silence at the false ending on the 45 than there is on the version from the Solo Collection.

Just wondering about this........If the difference between the 45 and LP version is that the 45 is an early fade of the LP version (as noted above), shouldn't the database list all appearances as "LP length" instead of "LP version"?

"True Love" from the album CD "Soul Searchin'" (MCA MCAD-6239)
from the word "love" at 3:17.4, through the silence, to the next drum hit at 3:24.4 (about 7 seconds)
"True Love" of the commercial 45
from the word "love" at 3:17.3, through the silence, to the next drum hit at 3:26 (about 8.7 seconds)

So are you saying, Abagon, that to create the 45 you need to put 1.5 more seconds of silence in the break, then fade early to (4:07)?
(And if so, where do you start the fade?)

If my memory is correct, I seem to recall that the sustain at the false ending is longer on the 45 than on the LP. In other words, they didn't just hack out some silence on the LP version; they also cut the tail end of the sustained note. Perhaps someone can confirm.

Yes.
The end is at 4:07.5, the starting fade point is around 3:53 on the commercial 45.

(Additional note) The above data includes the blank of the first 0.2 seconds on the CD. There's no speed difference between the 45 and the original "Soul Searchin'" CD.

Thanks, Abagon. Is Aaron right, though, that the sustained note is a little longer on the 45, therefore the 45 cannot be created from the LP?

Thanks, Aaron (and Abagon). From what I can tell, it's very close as to the length of the trailout--I don't think it's extended.

I compared the 45 version of Glenn Frey's "True Love", as it appears on the promo CD single, to the LP version. Aaron is correct... The sustained note during the false ending does indeed trail off longer on the 45 version all the way until the next drum hit. Therefore the 45 version cannot be correctly replicated by just simply inserting 1.7 seconds of silence prior to the said drum hit on the LP version.
And for what it's worth, my promo CD single copy of "True Love" on MCA 6239 contains the following track listing and actual run times:
1) [No description listed] - 4:11 (printed time: 4:10)
2) LP Version - 4:38 (printed time: 4:40)
Track 1 is the 45 version but runs several seconds longer. (Those final seconds however are barely audible.)

Indeed. I thought it was real close, but I'll defer to the expert.

Seemingly yes. According to Discogs, "True Love" on DMCA-1284 runs (4:08).
