The Billboard 1955 number 6 hit "Black Denim Trousers" by The Cheers is not listed at all in the database.

That is because this database takes into account other trade publications other than Billboard. For example, the Cheers never hit the Cash Box charts at all and perhaps that is because in 1955 Cash Box was only charting the top 10 juke box tunes. In the future, time permitting, I will be expanding the database and the Cheers may get added.

Oh, yes it did, my dear moderator. It peaked at #6 in Cash Box in the 10/22/55 issue.

Cash Box 10/22/55

And another correction: I doubt Cash Box was only charting the top ten juke box tunes, as the name of the chart at that time was: "The Nation’s Top 50 Best Selling Records."

The old Cash Box chart books that have been issued are unfortunately riddled with errors. See Randy Penny's web site, which features the full Cash Box chart for every issue from 1950 through its demise in 1996.

Well then it looks like there will be a number of additions to the database in 2006. Right now I am actively working on adding some of the horrendous early cd's that mastered their songs from vinyl, used the Waring-fds noise reduction system, were mostly electronic stereo and should never have been released to begin with. Labels you will see appearing shortly are early Priority, Roulette and Laurie cd's. Listening to these cd's is like torture for my ears. Roulette and Laurie didn't survive but the Priority cd's from the 90's on were pretty good.

I have just acquired a promo 45 for this song (Capitol 3219), and the song
title appears on it as "Black Denim Trousers And Motorcycle Boots". No
parens, no small print - all six words appear equally.
