pat...
you state that the cd
(S) (3:32) Priority 8676 Metal Mania (45 version)
contains the 45 version.....that can't be....the 45 version runs 3:46 and NOT 3:32....you may want to review this song again.....

Thanks for pointing this out Ed as this song is not "Edge Of A Broken Heart" but "Cryin'", the other top 40 hit for Vixen.

The 45 edit is included on The "A" List Disc 43,
but it's got noise reduction on it. That's no good, so I
recreated the edit from the LP version on Rock The
First Vol. 4.
Here are instructions for creating the 45 edit, using the
timings from Rock The First Vol. 4:
Cut off the first 6.2 seconds of the synth-note intro.
The first drumbeat, which is at 15.4 seconds on the LP
version, occurs at 9.4 seconds on the 45.
Keep from 0:06.2 to 2:39.6 of the LP version. Start
counting the beats in the guitar solo that starts during
the word "over"; start counting with beat number 1, and
edit on beat number 16, which is a snare hit that falls
one beat before the downbeat.
Remove the 32 beats from 2:39.6 to 2:54.8. The edit
should pick up with a quick double snare/cymbal crash.
Keep from 2:54.8 to 3:26.7 of the LP version. Edit at
the beginning of the word "living".
Remove the 32 beats from 3:26.7 to 3:41.9.
Keep 3:41.9 to 4:25.6 (end) of the LP version.
Your mixdown will run 3:45 (3:49 with outro silence) and
will have edits at 2:33.4 and 3:05.2.
(Edit of my post: I found a dub of the 45 on my hard
drive - this is indeed the true 45 edit.)
