I just wanted to pass along that cassette single copies of Gloria Estefan's "Turn the Beat Around" contains the following track listing and actual run times:
Side A:
Single Version - 3:51
Side B:
7" Remix - 4:05
The single version is identical to the album version and should be considered the official hit version. However, I should note that the 7" Remix appears on my Promo Only Mainstream Radio DJ CD subscription series and did indeed get some airplay on Top 40 radio stations.
I also have a 6-track commercial maxi-CD single of "Turn the Beat Around" where the first two tracks and their corresponding actual run times are as follows:
1) Single Version - 3:51 (printed time: 3:52)
2) 7" Remix - 4:05 (not 3:55 as stated on the label)
The remaining four tracks on the maxi-CD single consist of radically different remixes, which I don't believe were ever serviced to radio stations:
3) Def Radio Mix - 3:46
4) Damien's Radio Edit - 4:19
5) Def Conga Mix - 7:42
6) Turn the Bass Around Mix - 6:07

According to my research, there was a promo CD single issued for Gloria Estefan's "Turn the Beat Around" on Crescent Moon/Epic ESK 77630 with the following track listing and listed run times:
1) Single Version - 3:52
2) 7" Remix - 3:55
3) Original Version - 4:06
The listed times for Tracks 1 and 2 are the same as what's printed on the maxi-CD single, so I wouldn't be surprised if the actual run times I reported in my previous post match up as well. But if someone who has a copy of this promo single could please report back with the actual run times, that would be fantastic.

My 45 Epic 34 77756 (which does not identify which version) contains the "single version" (b/w "Everlasting Love"). Was there ever a vinyl single with the "7 inch remix" on it? Kind of a misnomer if this version never existed on a 45.
I don't recall there being any real consensus on what the hit version was...I seemed to hear both versions about equally. We played the single version initially, then switched to the 7" remix about in the middle of the song's chart run.

WPLJ in NY played the 7" remix. (Hot AC)
WALK on long island played the single/album version (AC).
Make of this what you will. :-) I guess it was random.

The "Original Version" (4:06) is the only one I've heard played on Adult Contemporary radio stations, not the 3:51 album/single version with the Hi-NRG-style synthesizer intro.

WKTU in NY also played the 7'' remix upon its debut in the market in 1996.

Whatever mix was used in the music video is the only one I
recall hearing.
