I have a version of Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker" on my Promo Only Mainstream Radio that is listed as "No Rap Version" (without Jay-Z) and has a run time of 3:19. This is the version I heard played on my local Top 40 stations when I lived in Dayton, Ohio. I hate to put my good friend Jim through the trouble of lifting and sorting through heavy boxes to access his promo CD single collection, so I thought I'd cut him a break by first asking if anyone else here has a promo CD single copy of "Heartbreaker" who can pass along the track listing and timing info?

Thank you, mainrhythm! It's interesting to see the "Album Version Featuring Jay-Z" on the promo CD single only runs 4:17 when the true album version from Mariah Carey's Rainbow CD is 4:45.

I find that odd too Todd as I have as comment passed along to me by an unidentified source years ago that states their copy features the "album version" but runs (4:47) not (4:18) as stated on the label.
Does anyone else have this commercial or dj cd single that can verify the running time of the "album version"? Mainrhythm is reporting a catalog number of 42813 while the commercial copy should have a catalog number of 79260 so perhaps the 42813 number is the dj only catalog number.

Pat & Todd, I can confirm that my CSK 42813 promo CD single has
exactly the same timings as earlier reported by Mainrhythm. My
commercial CD single is 44K 79261, not 49260 as Pat indicated; maybe
my 5-track CD is a maxi-single, while Pat's is a 2-track CD. Here are my
details:
1-Album Version (Featuring Jay-Z) (listed 4:18; actual 4:46)
2-Remix (Featuring Da Brat & Missy Elliott) (listed 4:36; actual 4:35)
3 thru 5-"Heartbreaker/If You Should Ever Be Lonely"
3-Junior's Club Mix (listed 10:18; actual 10:17)
4-Junior's Club Dub (listed 10:11; actual 10:10)
5-Junior's Hard Mix (listed 10:20; actual 10:19)
Although cut 1 on each of the CD singles above show exactly the same
title, there is, in fact, around a :30 second difference in their actual times.
Totally confusing, but true...

Would the actual 4:17 track be an edit of the album version, or a DJ edit, though its officially labeled as the album version?

I too am thinking that's a distinct possibility, John.

That is indeed the case. I've seen the same version listed
as Radio Edit. The intro fades in slightly later (about
half a second), there's an edit between the first chorus
and second verse, and then one of the three choruses is cut
at the end.
