Steve Hoffman did have this to say about doing a reissue
45 for MCA:
"There is a 45 that I cut with Dave Hernandez at MCA of
the DFS master tape version of WIPE OUT and SURFER JOE.
It's on the MCA label that is blue with the clouds. But
there is also a cutting that uses that crappy DOT eq and
compressed dub with the added echo and the editing. So,
watch out. Same label for both!"
Needless to say, he is not a fan of the "hit" version of
the song!
