I was just listening to both the LP version and also the
45 version on Qobuz. Here's an interesting observation.
1) On the LP version, the car start SFX begins in the
RIGHT channel.
2) On the 45 version, the car start SFX begins in the
LEFT channel.
3) On the actual 45, being played here on YouTube, the
car start SFX begins in the LEFT channel.

I wonder why there's a difference...

I got the channels mixed up. LP version starts in LEFT
channel and 45 version starts in the RIGHT channel.
The actual 45 on YouTube starts in the LEFT channel.
Could some 45 versions on CD have their channels reversed?

And, I found the video on VEVO and the car starts in the
RIGHT channel.
I'm thoroughly confused.

Most likely the vinyl 45 on YouTube has the channels
reversed. Never mind, carry on :)

Yeah, I'd say that Youtube would be unreliable to test any versions, as there are too many variables that can't be controlled.
At least when checking left and right channel orientations.
Since Google is phasing out the Google drive, and converting libraries over to Youtube in the coming months, I think there will be even
more content available to just listen to if subscribers decide to make their libraries public.
As to the Billy Ocean song, isn't there a version that doesn't have the "Car starting" at the intro? Or, am I confusing that with Pink Cadillac? (Not the Springsteen
version.)

Actually it's "Google Play" they have phased out, now
calling it "YouTube Music." I've been a paid subscriber
for years and I am NOT happy at the changes they've made
to the service.
But this is Google, so complaining to them will be as
about as effective as if I complain to my cat.

You're right MM. It was Google Play, my mistake.
I mentioned that service b/c I did upload a number of tracks back when it was new. I have to admit, I never actually revisited those uploads, so the changes had little effect
on my account. Home based networks and storage have been getting better in price. That's mostly why I didn't need it.

Yes, there's a thread here about the version of "Get Outta My Dreams..." that cuts out the Car Starting intro, otherwise known as the AC Mix. The UK 45
version also cuts out the car engine intro, but its intro is longer and different than the one on the AC Mix.
The Single Version of Natalie Cole's "Pink Cadillac", which was on the charts at the same time as the Billy Ocean song, also begins with the sound of a car
starting. I sometimes got them confused when I'd hear them on the radio back then. The Album Version is a totally different mix with an instrumental intro.

I just checked the Single Version on the 2-Track Promo CD Single and it starts in the right channel.

A poster on another forum claims that his copy of Billy
Ocean's "Greatest Hits" has a version of "Get Outta My
Dreams" that runs 4:02, starting cold after the "Hey!
You!" intro. If true, I'd assume it would have to be an
early copy of the disc and then later copies fixed the
error. Does anybody have this disc with this song running
about 4:02?
