Here's some info on the promo CDs for "Honey":

CSK 1489
1. LP Version (4:59)
2. Bad Boy Remix (5:32)
3. Smooth Version With Intro (4:47)
4. Smooth Version Without Intro (4:25)

I do not own the above CD to verify the times.

CSK 2927
1. Smooth Version (listed 4:25, actual 4:47)

I own this disc, and it has the printed time from the "without intro" version but actually contains the "with intro" version. There is no indicator of "with" or "without intro" on the insert or disc.

Which version did Top 40 radio or Adult Contemporary radio play?

I'm 99% certain our station played the "Smooth Version With Intro," but I honestly don't remember all that clearly. The "Smooth Version" is very similar to the LP version, so it's also possible we played the LP. My Promo Only CD has the "Smooth Version With Intro," but they faded it 15 seconds early.

I ordered a copy of the CSK 1489 promo CD single yesterday. Hope to have it in soon.

On my Promo Only Mainstream Radio CD subscription series, "Honey" is listed as the "Smooth Version" (does not indicate if it's with or without the intro) and has an actual run time of 4:32. This doesn't match up with any of the listed or actual times on the "Honey" promo CD singles that Aaron posted, so it's very possible the "Smooth Version" was altered in some way on the Promo Only disc (i.e. - faded early, edited, extended length).

By the way, John, did you ever received your "Honey" CSK 1489 promo CD single? If so, could you please pass along the actual run time info for us? Thanks!

The Promo Only disc is the "Smooth Version with Intro," and it's faded early.

I hate when Promo Only does that. Thanks for confirming though, Aaron.

I also meant to ask... Does anyone have commercial single run time info for "Honey"?

Thanks, Ed! I don't recall ever hearing the "Bad Boy Remix" before, so it would appear Track 1 is the true single version.

My copy of the Promo CD single mirrors Ed's commercial CD single, except there are 2 additional tracks. I haven't had a chance to time them yet.

3) Smooth Version With Intro - listed 4:47
4) Smooth version No Intro - Listed 4:25

Here's an update from my post from nearly 9 years ago!

CSK 1489
1. LP Version (listed 4:59; actual 5:00)
2. Bad Boy Remix (listed & actual 5:32)
3. Smooth Version With Intro (listed 4:47; actual 5:04)
4. Smooth Version Without Intro (listed 4:25; actual 4:45)

The "Smooth Version Without Intro" from this promo CD and "Smooth Version" from CSK 2927 are the same.

My earlier statement about CSK 2927 is actually incorrect. This is the "Without Intro" version, and after comparing it to the "With Intro" version, I see where I was confused. The "Without Intro" version contains an instrumental introduction, which is exactly opposite from what I'd expect. The first ad-libs are at 0:09 on this version. The "With Intro" version has no instrumental intro at all with vocals starting right away at 0:00.

One more thing of note: The "Smooth Version" mixes do not contain Puff Daddy's ad-libs, and the mix is slightly different (drums mixed down a bit) when compared with the LP Version.

Bumping up so the database can be updated with the ACTUAL run times from CSK 1489 that Aaron listed in 2018.

My local Top 40 station started with the "Smooth Version
Without Intro" version for a number of weeks before
going over to the "LP Version".
