Although my cassette singles and CD singles for the following songs are in Michigan, I'll attempt to provide the most accurate info I can.

Juicy - The cassette single (2-track) features the Radio Edit, which has only appeared on a full-length cd once, which is Big Phat Ones Of Hip-Hop Vol. 1. The version on the clean Ready To Die remaster is not the same length, and it is edited differently. This edit was not previously released.

Big Poppa - The 2-track cassette single uses the Radio Edit, which has yet to appear on a full-length domestic CD. The "censored lyrics" versions appearing on Bad Boy's 10th Anniversary and Ready To Die clean remastered edition are NOT the same as the Radio Edit. They are edited differently and had not been issued prior to those releases.

One More Chance/Stay With Me - The lead track on the CD single is "Radio Edit 1" which to my knowledge has never been issued on a full-length domestic cd.

Hypnotize - The 2-track cd single features the Radio Mix, which has only appeared on a full-length cd once--the clean version of The Source Presents Hip Hop Hits. All other "censored lyrics" versions listed in the database are NOT the Radio Mix and were first issued on their respective releases.

Mo Money Mo Problems - The 2-track cd single uses the Radio Mix, which is mixed differently than the LP version in addition to having censored lyrics. None of the CDs listed in the database with "censored lyrics" are the correct 45 version. To my knowledge, the true 45 version is only available on the CD single.

My CD single (Bad Boy 78612-79016-2) has the Club Mix for "Big Poppa" (listed-4:13,
actual-4:11) and the Club Mix for "Warning" (listed and actual-3:41). Both tracks are
not censored. Are these versions different than the cassette single tracks? I want to be
clear if the cassette single is censored.

Paul, good question! Mine are definitely censored, but I wonder if there are two different cassette singles for both "Big Poppa" and "Juicy." I purchased those cassette singles at Wal-Mart, and obviously they don't sell anything with explicit lyrics stickers. It's possible that explicit versions of the cassette singles also exist. Perhaps edtop40 can help us out.

Luckily, Big Phat Ones Of Hip-Hop Vol. 1 is available through Amazon for as little as 48 cents!

A couple of sellers online have a 12" vinyl version that has on the B-side,
both "Big Poppa" (radio edit - 4:12) and "Warning" (radio edit - 2:57). Do
these match the cassette single track descriptions?

I have two different U.S. commercial 45s for "Big Poppa".

Bad Boy 78612-79019-7 (the plain white sleeve has a "Parental Advisory" sticker):
A-side: "Big Poppa Remix (Club Mix)"
B-side: "Who Shot Ya? (Club Mix)"

Bad Boy 78612-79024-7:
A-side: "Big Poppa (Radio Edit)"
B-side: "Warning (Radio Edit)"

Wow - I have a lot of the 12" singles from Bad Boy's mid-90s heyday, but I've never seen any 45s on the Bad Boy label, even jukebox singles. Were they actually pressed on Bad Boy or on Arista? Were these available in the US?

They were pressed on Bad Boy, distributed by Arista. I don't have those ones, but I do have a couple of Total singles on Bad Boy from around the same time.

Arista is one of those labels that changed their mind a few times about 45s. For the most part, Arista cut the production of pop 45s by late '91. During the "Bodyguard" period, they did all of Whitney's singles on 45 plus a few others. In '95 they went through about a year where they did almost all of the chart hits again - including some Toni Braxton singles on LaFace, and a couple from TLC, but then stopped (mostly) again sometime in '96. They continued to do country singles on 45 all through this period.

I have taken Aaron's initial post, and tried to see what I had filed away for promo CD singles on them. I'm just about positive Aaron is already "all over" the commercial CD single configurations. Other tracks are included on some of these promos, and I would normally only note them briefly, or not at all. But I have found that many of these other, "straggler" tracks by Rap/Hip-Hop artists also seem to be of interest to many, so in this case I will include that information as well:

-Notorious B.I.G.-"Juicy" (BBPCD-9004)
1-Juicy (Radio Edit) (listed & actual 4:15)
2-Juicy (Remix) (listed 4:42; actual 4:41)
3-Unbelievable (Radio Edit) (listed & actual 3:46)

**We received in to the station two separate promo CD singles for this next one**
-Notorious B.I.G.-"Big Poppa" (BBPCD-9015)
1-Big Poppa (Radio Edit) (listed 4:13; actual 4:11)
2-Warning (Radio Edit) (listed 2:57; actual 2:56)
3-Big Poppa (Instrumental) (listed 4:13; actual 4:12)
4-Warning (Instrumental) (listed & actual 3:41)

-Notorious B.I.G.-"Big Poppa" (REMIX) (BBPCD-9019)
1-Big Poppa Remix (Radio Edit) (listed & actual 4:11)
2-Who Shot Ya? (Radio Edit) (listed & actual 5:19)
3-Big Poppa Remix (Instrumental) (listed & actual 4:11)
4-Who Shot Ya? (Instrumental) (listed & actual 5:09)

-Notorious B.I.G.-"One More Chance/Stay With Me" (BBPCD-9031)
1-One More Chance/Stay With Me (Radio Edit) (listed & actual 4:15)
2-One More Chance (Hip Hop Radio Edit) (listed 4:28; actual 4:18)
3-The What (Radio Edit) (listed 4:00; actual 3:59)
4-One More Chance/Stay With Me (Instrumental) (listed 4:35; actual 4:33)

-Notorious B.I.G.-"Hypnotize" (instead of a promo, for this song Bad Boy instead sent us a commercial CD single, placing a "Not For Sale" sticker over the UPC symbol.)(78612-79093-2)
1-Hypnotize (Clean Radio Edit) (listed & actual 3:59)
2-I Got A Story To Tell (Clean Radio Edit) (listed 3:09; actual 3:07)

-Notorious B.I.G.-"Mo Money Mo Problems" (BBPCD-9099)
1-Radio Mix (listed 4:12; actual 4:10)
2-Instrumental (listed 4:12; actual 4:10)

the cassingle has a parental advisory sticker on the front citing explicit lyrics

bad boy 79015

2-"warning" (club mix)

"big poppa" runs 4:12 and is identical to the full length dirty version from the cd "ready to die" even though it states that the version on the cassingle is the "club mix" it is the same as the lp version

"warning" runs 3:41 and is identical to the full length dirty version from the cd "ready to die" even though it states that the version on the cassingle is the "club mix" it is the same as the lp version

the cassingle has a parental advisory sticker on the front citing explicit lyrics

bad boy 79031

bad boy 79019
1-"big poppa" (club mix)
2-"big poppa remix" (club mix)

Since there is a cassette single with the "Club Mix"/actual LP versions of "Big
Poppa" and "Warning", I'm going to assume that would be the official
single version. Thanks for the info. I wonder if Billboard tabulated both the
Radio Edit and Club Mix cassette singles in figuring the sales and airplay, or
separated them?

Does anyone know if the version of "hypnotize" on the Bad Boy's
10th Anniversary and Ready To Die clean remastered edition is the
same as the "promo" cd single? My wife noticed the "a--" word in
tact and was not too happy for our 2 year old to be listening :)

The 2014 remastered Life After Death is NOT the Radio Mix found on CD singles. This version simply mutes most (not all) of the dirty words. The Radio Mix has sound effects in place of many of the naughty words, and "ass" is reversed.
