Although it didn't make it to the Hot 100, it was a
big hit in the clubs in 1987 and beyond. It peaked on
the US Billboard Dance chart at #26 on January 6,
1987.
Using the "Original Mix" from the
CD single or 12" vinyl (running 6:10 after deleting
leading and trailing silence on the CD), here are the
instructions to make the "radio mix" (based on
this YouTube
video).
I should mention up front that based on the YouTube
video there is one word right before the drum hits and
the band kicks in at 0:20 that is barely audible in
the original mix and NOT audible in the radio mix.
It might be possible to cut and paste from another
part of the song for that one beat to get a perfect
match, but I didn't try.
First,
Remove 0:20 to 1:08 (48 seconds)
Then,
Remove 1:43 to 2:15 (32 seconds)
Then,
Remove 2:07 to 2:15 (8 seconds)
Then,
Remove 2:55 to 3:03 (8 seconds)
Then,
Remove 3:03 to 3:11 (8 seconds)
Finally,
Remove 3:27 to 3:35 (8 seconds)
To exactly match the version in the video, I had to
speed it up 0.4%.
Your final mix will run 4:17 at video speed, 4:19 at
original speed without deleting silence. Your file
will be 4:17.227 after deleting silence at original
speed, so I would expect 4:15 if you sped it up to
match the video.
The source maxi-single I used is visible on Discogs at
this address which I can't make linkable because it's
too long:
