Over-ambitious homemade edit, running about 3:31
I suspect that this was made by TM Century. It correctly
reproduces the 45 edits, but additionally edits out the
32 beats from 3:46-4:01 of the LP version that are edited
out in the Rock 'N Soul Part 1 edit. Oops - nice
try, guys.

Just guessing, but they probably started with the Rock 'N
Soul edit, and then made the additional 45 edit on the
guitar solo. |

|
Good guess! That makes much more sense than over-editing
the LP version.

Apparently, there's a UK comp (not sure if it's fully legit) of H&O called '12 Inch Collection 2' that has a version of "Kiss on My List" labeled "previously unreleased mix". Has anyone heard this or have the comp or know how it differs?

BTW, in an earlier post, Aaron mentions there's a UK mix of "Private Eyes". Does anyone know where this version is available on CD? I'm guessing it's on a UK CD somewhere.

I have both volumes of the Japanese 12 Inch Collection on CD. They
may have released these in the UK at some point but mine are
definitely from Japan. They are fantastic collections if you enjoy H&O
extended mixes, and they are legit CDs. The UK mix of "Private Eyes"
is sourced from a clean copy of the 12" and sounds really nice. The rest
of the tracks sound like tape sources. Sadly, "Jingle Bell Rock" fades
before the drum hit at the end like most other copies.

Regarding the edit of "Kiss On My List" that appears on
"Rock & Soul Part 1", is this the same version that was
used as the B-Side of the "Say It Isn't So" single? I
know Ron mentioned earlier that it runs about 3:52, but
the 45 label (as the B-Side) says 3:48, which makes me
think it might have been the original 1981 edit. But if
they had just made a new edit of the song for the
compilation, I would think maybe they'd use that version
for the B-Side.

As I recall the B-side of the 45 had the "Rock 'N Soul
Part 1" edit on it.

I had the 45 "Say It Isn't So" / "Kiss On My List" 45 back in 1983 and it had the Rock & Soul edit of "Kiss On My List"

So the 45 "Say It Isn't So / Kiss
on My List" which had the Rock &
Soul of "Kiss on My List" was
released exactly to promote the
Rock & Soul compilation in
1983.
