After the release of Taylor Swift's Fearless
album, a number of its tracks made the Hot 100 from
digital sales. One of them was "Forever & Always",
which debuted on the November 29, 2008, chart at #49
and fell off the chart the following week.
A year later the "Platinum Edition" of the album was
released. Six of its audio tracks were not on the
original Fearless album. Five of these were
brand new songs, and each sold enough digital
downloads to debut in the Top 40 on the November 14,
2009, Hot 100. The sixth new track was the "Piano
Version" of "Forever & Always", which sold enough
downloads for the song to re-enter the chart at #34.
The following week it fell to #100, after which it
fell off the chart, never to return.
I consider the "Piano Version" to be the Top 40 hit,
because the only week that the song charted in the Top
40 it did so almost entirely from digital sales of
this version. I don't believe any version of this song
was ever promoted to radio.

What's the difference between the piano version and the album version? I dont think ITUNES has the song anymore so I cant do any comparisons....

The only instrumentation on the piano version is a
piano and a string section.
By the way, in the 24 hours since my initial
post above, Taylor Swift has accumulated an additional
16 Hot 100 entries.
