There are numerous versions of "Practice What You Preach" by Barry White floating around and I would appreciate help in sorting them out. The LP version runs 5:57. I have a dj cd single that runs 3:53 and is the same version that appears on the 20th Century Masters cd and is called "Mainstream Pop Edit". I have a cd maxi single (A&M 314580891) with 3 different remixes on it, one of which is the "Michael Angelo remix" which runs 5:34. Now the version on the cd "Pure Soul 1997" states it is the "Michael Angelo" remix but runs 4:00 and is clearly an edit of the "Michael Angelo remix" found on my maxi single. To add to my confusion, Whitburn lists the running time of the single as 5:50. So....does anyone have the cassette single that can help straighten out which version is really the commercial single?

Does the Mainstream edit start with Barry's Rap
(starting at :02) or a :27 intro without his rap?

Chuck,

Presuming that the Mainstream Pop Edit is the same as the
Edit on other promo CD singles and the radio edit that Pat
lists in the database, it's a :27 intro without the rap.

UPDATE:

I just listened to the song from the album Love
Songs
. It runs 3:59 and DOES have Barry's rap starting
at :02 in.

I have the edit from the CD Gold. It has the :27
intro with no rap.
