Is it just my imagination or the NOW 47 UK version is a completely different instrumental mix that is not the LP or the radio mix played here in the US?

There are 2 versions of "Babylon". One that was a hit
initially in the UK which has sparse instrumentation
(acoustic guitar, drum programming) and a remix/edit (2nd
verse is cut)
of the original version with added instrumental and vocal
overdubs that was the hit in the US

Both of these versions appear on the US pressing of
Gray's "White Ladder" CD.
