There's some discussion on the "Both Sides Now" message board forum (at www.bsnpubs.com) regarding "California Girls" by the Beach Boys. In the 10th edition, the run times on CD range anywhere from 2:31 to 2:43. I notice most of the CD appearances of "California Girls" running 2:43 are in stereo and have a longer fade than the shorter versions. Would this be the LP version? Meanwhile, how long does the commercial 45 version actually run?

this is indeed a revelation! All those mono versions on CD running in the
2:37 range must have been the "LP length" from "Summer Days (And Summer
Nights!!)". Can someone confirm this? Good to have this info for this critical
hit song, ed! At least there are a couple of CDs with the mono 45 length.
