On both the vinyl 45 and cassette single of John Mellencamp's 'Get a Leg Up', the few mumbled words prior to the last verse that appear on the LP version (including the 'GD' word) are mixed out. On the vinyl 45 this version is noted as the 'Family Values Version', but it is not identified as such on the cassette single. The B-side of the vinyl 45 (but not the cassette single) is the LP version.

From the better-late-than-never department, let me correct a couple of errors in my post from two years ago. The vinyl 45 is noted as the 'Family Version' and its B-side is "Whenever We Wanted" (not the Lp version of "Get a Leg Up").

paul...great catch.....by late 1991, i was collecting cassingles exclusively, and wouldn't have happened on the vinyl 45 at all....does this "family version" appear on the promo cd single?.....jim??

1-Album Version (listed & actual 3:47)
2-Family Version (listed & actual 3:47)

thanks to jim i can confirm that the commercial cassingle is indeed identical to the "family version" from his promo cd single.....without the cursing before the final chorus......thank you very much jim!!!
