I have thus far come across three Top 40 hits listed in the database as not being available on CD that are available from iTunes: The Quaker City Boys' 'Teasin'', Sammy Turner's 'Always', and Fess Parker's 'Wringle, Wrangle'. Does anyone know of any others?
I have casually compared the downloads with my original 45s and all seem to be the 45 versions.
I should mention that I'm talking about the Canadian iTunes site, although I don't see why they shouldn't be available in the US as well. Another song, Cliff Richard's 'Living Doll', is also available on iTunes Canada, but it wouldn't surprise me if this one is not available in the US. (In order to make a purchase from iTunes Canada, you need a credit card with a Canadian billing address.)
I also purchased a download of Edward Bear's 'Close Your Eyes' a couple of years ago, but can't remember from where - it wasn't from iTunes.
I actually do have The Quaker City Boys' 'Teasin'' on a US Swan CD (Swan 5001) Lost Masters Vol. 1, which I received as an unexpected free bonus with a mail order purchase several years ago, probably from Discollector. It has a serious defect, though, and is missing the first few seconds of every track. So perhaps this CD was never actually commercially released.

While not available on an American release, Teasin' by the Quaker City Boys is on the Ace (UK) cd, The Golden Age Of American Popular Musc (Hard To Get Hot 100 Hits From 1956-1965), which I purchased to get City Of Angels by the Highlights on cd...and the entire cd sounds fantastic and sounds like all of the songs are from master tapes. The version of Gotta Travel On by Billy Grammer beats the sound on all previous cd versions and is a true mono version on cd from a master tape for the first time (previous cds used a mono fold-down of Sony's rechanneled tape or a vinyl dub of a mint 45).
That Swan cd you speak of is probably a bootleg of vinyl dubs, as all of the Swan tapes (except Freddy Cannon, who owns his own master tapes) are owned by Rollercoaster Records in the UK.

The Swan CD does not sound like a bootleg. Sound quality is pretty good and, in addition to some obscure Swan stuff, has some alternate takes and original demos.
It's a curious CD, though. The liner notes are signed 'D. Clark', but the notes refer to Dick Clark in the third person and mention his rumoured 'interest' in the label but that this was 'never proven'. So this appears to be a different D. Clark.
On the subject of the ownership of the Swan masters, the mysterious D. Clark states, "Unable to sell off its entire catalog to one entity, they 'parceled' it out. Freddie (sic) Cannon bought back most of his masters, Granahan - his; Royal Teens - theirs. Other masters went to the local Swan distributors for Pennsylvania, still others to buyers in the Midwest and upstate New York. During this chaotic procedure, much unreleased and alternate type material was virtually dumped as it was considered valueless! Sadly, there are so many "owners" of Swan copyrights that doing a label retrospective box set would be virtually impossible. Over the years, many Swan artists have come to CD, others have not and still others have had albums come out with key trax (sic) missing. Hence, our attempt to help complete the Swan picture by issuing these 23 long unavailable and missing Swan record trax. Volume 2, due out in 1999, will feature additional material and some newly discovered alternate takes." I don't know if Volume 2 ever came out, whether Volume 1 was ever actually commercially released, or whether Volume 1 was ever pressed without the significant defect mentioned above.
I've been trying to remember how I got the CD, and I'm now pretty sure I got it as a freebie from Discollector with an order that included a copy of the T40DBOCD book!

I beg to differ with Tom Diehl about Billy Grammer's "Gotta Travel On" being issued for the first time from a source other than Sony's rechannelled master. The ERIC Hard-to-Find 45s on CD release containing that track does NOT use Sony's crummy master. I ought to know, since I mastered the CD and rejected its use during the planning stages.

Unless something has changed in the last couple of months, the New Seekers' "Look What They've Done To My Song Ma" is another song available on iTunes that's not currently on a domestic CD.

From what I understand, the ERIC cd used a mint 45 as its source (please correct me if a different source was used) and faded slightly earlier, while the ACE cd used a UK mono master tape, though i still felt that it sounded more pleasing to my ears.
