I was comparing Abkco's Cameo/Parkway box with some of my original 45s and noticed a couple of differences:
John Zacherle's 'Dinner With Drac' is missing the 10 second intro that appears on the 45, and Bobby Rydell's 'Volare' is 9 seconds shorter than the 45. ('Volare' appeared in its 45 length on those Cameo/Parkway material CDs of highly dubious legality that appeared a few years ago, but on those CDs 'Dinner With Drac' is also missing the intro.)

yeah. I'm totally bummed that Dinner with Drac is missing the intro. I
actually have the full version on a RONCO record I was hoping to at last
get rid of...

This is strange as my Cameo 45 #130-B, matrix number C-130-B is identical to what appears on the Cameo-Parkway box set (matrix number IFPI 0342 with vocals beginning at :12). Could there be two pressings of the Cameo-Parkway box set?

My Cameo-Parkway box set CD matrix number, for the disc containing Zacherle, is IFPI-0375, but still appears similar to Pat's discs, as the vocals for "Drac" also begin at :12 on my CD.

For "Dinner With Drac," sounds more to me like we've got different pressings of the 45 rather than different pressings of the CD.
Paul, describe the 10-second intro. What's different? Are you sure you're not listening to Dinner With Drac Part 2, the flip side?

Sorry, my mistake. The intro (which I guess is supposed to sound like a monster) does NOT appear on the original 45. It does appear on the Abkco re-issue 45 and on a 1970s K-Tel LP I have.
I don't believe 'Dinner With Drac' appeared on an LP until the Monster Mash LP was issued in 1962. I don't know if the intro appears on that LP.

Thanks for the clarification, and glad to hear it's the correct 45 version.
But it still sucks that "Volare" fades out several seconds early. It's now been issued on three different CDs in the wrong version. It's too bad people didn't know that a long time ago -- ABKCO could have corrected it in the Bobby Rydell CD or the one-disc Cameo-Parkway comp. After all, they did correct the clipped "Swingin' School" intro and the wrong take of "Slow Twistin'" on subsequently issued titles.
