The database notes that dj copies of the 45 ran 4:57 (a remix), 4:24 and 3:58. Does anyone know if the remix that ran 4:57 is an edit of the 12" dance mix? I have the 45 that runs 4:24 and 3:58, so I know that's not it. I remember frequently hearing a mix on the radio that sounded like the 12" when the song was current, but don't remember if it was an edit or not.

Yes, you are correct. The (4:57) DJ version is an edit of the 12" dance mix.

Aha--thanks for the info Aaron! That leads me to two more questions. 1) Do you know the catalog number for that dj 45 and 2) Can the 12" Mix be accurately edited down to the 45 lenghth? I am curious because I have the 12" on CD from the Club Epic Volume 6 compilation and would like to trim it down if possible.

Yes and yes. The catalog number is 37-06431. Printed run time is (4:50). I have recreated the edit, and it is a straight edit of the 12" mix, which I have on The Best Remixes (Japanese EP).

Once again, thank you!
Drat...I just checked my promo 45, which has the 3:58 & 4:24 versions, and it has the same catalog number 37-06431. That's gonna make it a bit more of a challenge to find a copy online...

995wlol, on your current promo copy, below the 37-06431, it says ZSS 175520 for the (3:58) side, and ZSS 175522 for the (4:24) side - I have it also. For the (4:50) on both sides promo 45, the one you want, it says (LV) next to "Change Of Heart" on one side, but not on the other. Both sides of the (4:50) promo have "ZSS 175780" below the 37-06431. Perhaps this, as well as the obvious listed time difference, will help both you and a seller locate the exact promo 45 copy you're looking for.

How is the 45 of "Change of Heart" edited? Does it just end cold after the slow a cappella section?

Yes, but you cannot edit the LP version, because the final synth note trails longer on the 45.

Just a bit of useless information for anyone who has an interest in how 45 versions differ in other parts of the world... I picked up a New Zealand pressed 45 of Change Of Heart on the Portrait label in order to acquire a copy of the single version with its unique ending. It says Edited Version on the label, however it appears they just used the LP version as a source, then pulled the fader down rather quickly after the word heart at 3:55. The audio is completely gone by 3:56 before the drums would normally kick in. There is no final synth note trailing beyond this point like there is on the US 45. The quick fade doesn't sound too flash to my ears.
