I just picked up the DJ 45 and at least on the DJ copy, the song does not feature as much reverb as the typical stereo mix. In fact, it sounds like the engineer purposely dropped out all reverb on the song (background singers, music) so when Kenny would sing, "Don't Take Your Love To Town" or "For God's Sake Turn Around" Kenny was alone. The song goes completely dead to spotlight Kenny.

This is unlike the stereo version where reverb is still trailing off when Kenny comes in for those phrases.

If the stock is the same, there should be a mix notation.

Oh the DJ copy is in mono with no stereo version on the flip, it's the standard B side.

You are correct again Bill. The commercial 45 is mono and does not contain that reverb that all stereo versions contain. This is a substanital enough difference to warant an "LP version" for all stereo appearances of this song on cd (there are no mono versions).

has anyone noticed that there's two noticable clicks at 2:30 of this song? It's so easily fixed with Adobe Audition too...

(Bumping for Ed.)

My DJ 45 - like Bill's copy - has "Girl Get Ahold Of Yourself" on the flip. However, both sides of my copy are in stereo (as stated on the label) and "Ruby" has the same added reverb during the rhythmic breaks as the other commonly available stereo versions.
