CD entries in the database for Edward Bear's "Last Song" range anywhere from 3:04 to 3:11, yet there are currently no associated comments to help explain the run time discrepencies. Does anyone have the vinyl 45 or the parent LP who can pass along the song's run time info? I'm wondering if there's a length, edit, or speed difference between the 45 and LP.

My commercial 45, which is stereo, has a listed time of (3:15) and an actual time of (3:13), which is unfortunately still slightly outside of all of the database CD's timing range.

There is always the possibility that the CDs run at a slightly faster speed. Perhaps Paul can verify the speed of both (with Jim's assistance) and report back.

Has anyone slowed down their digital copies to match Jim's timing of 3:13?

Does it sound too slow?

Just thought I'd bump up this thread since Jim's actual 45 run time of 3:13 for "The Last Song" has not yet been entered into the database. I still haven't acquired a commercial 45 dub, so I'm unable to determine if there are pitch differences between the 45 and the CD appearances.

my commercial 45 issued as capitol 3452 runs slightly faster than the cd version i have listed below...in addition it fades out about 0:02 earlier than the cd version.....this accounts for the time differences......i've sent paul & john a copy of the vinyl 45 to see if they can adjust the speed and get the fade correct....

(S) (3:11) Rhino 70930 Super Hits Of The 70's Volume 10

Ed: Did you mean the 45 is slower than the CD?

Edward Bear vinyl LP, Capitol ST-11157, released 1973, has "Last Song" (song one side one) listed run time 3:15; actual run time, 3:13, just like 45...
