The 45 has a shortened intro from the LP version, but the rest of the song is the same.

The 45 version is available on
  • Body Talk - Hearts On Fire (Time-Life R834-21, 2000)
  • Body Talk - By Candlelight (Time-Life R834-12, 1997)
  • Sounds Of The '90s - 1990 (Time-Life R814-01, 2001; all three T-L discs are digitally identical)
  • Rock On 1990 Madacy EXR-2-9790, 1997)
The LP version is available on:
  • Hearts Of Gold The Pop Collection (Foundation CDP-96427, 1991)
  • Pump Up The Hits (PolyTel Canada 845096-2, 1990)
  • Can't Fight Fate (Arista ARCD-8581, 1989; yes I do own one or two single-artist CDs!)
The instructions for creating the 45 edit from the LP version are rather simple:

If the word "back" would fall on a downbeat -beat "zero"- keep the first 8 beats of the song (8.6 seconds).
Splice on downbeat.
Remove the 12 beats from 0:08.6-0:18.4 of the LP version.
Keep 0:18.4-4:39.1 (end) of the LP version.

Pat currently has a note in the database that "DJ copies of the CD single run (4:28) the "single edit" and (5:02) the 'album version'". Earlier entries in this post do not shed any light on this note. Can anyone confirm this info/own this promo CD single, and perhaps provide a stock # for it? While it is certainly very possible that one like it does exist, I was keeping a very careful eye out for such things at the time, and the only promo CD single I own for it (ASCD-9938) has the same, 1-track, listed (4:17), actual (4:23) version that Pat states also occurs on the vinyl 45. Maybe we just never got one of that particular promo CD sent to us - Arista was never great on providing us with much quantity on promo product. Any help would be appreciated!

Todd, I do not have this cd single so I cannot help you out but it looks like an erroneous entry as the LP version does not run (5:02).
