the cassette single issued as arista 12754 contains the "single remix" and it runs 3:10.....this correct single version (45 version) can be found on the import cd "singles of the 90's"....this info should be noted in the db....

I have Ace of Base's "Living in Danger" on the U.S. maxi-CD single release where Track 1 contains the "single remix" (a.k.a. the 45 version) and runs 3:10 just like on Ed's cassette single. However, Track 2 on the maxi-CD single states "album version" but only runs 3:20. This is faded out a full :21 sooner than the song's true album version length on Ace of Base's The Sign CD (Arista 18740).

Does anyone have "Living in Danger" on a promo CD single release who can relay the track listings and timing info? I'm curious to know if the shortened album version length also appears on the promo disc, or if it's exclusive to the commercial maxi-CD single?

Todd, we received in two different promo CD singles for this song back in 1994, are here are all the particulars:

1-Single Remix (listed & actual 3:10)
2-Album Version (listed 3:19; actual 3:21)
3-Old School Radio Mix (listed 3:42; actual 3:41)
4-D-House Mix (listed & actual 4:03)
5-Principle Mix (listed 4:59; actual 5:00)

Ace Of Base-"Living In Danger" (The David Morales Mixes) (ASCD-2785)
1-Mix #1 (listed 4:05; actual 4:03)

Thanks much, Jim, and it's great to see you back on the board! So we can now conclude the "Album Version" on your promo CD also runs shorter than the true album version length.

"Living in Danger" didn't get a lot of airplay in my area when the song was on the charts. I do remember primarily hearing the "Single Remix", but I imagine the "Album Version" garnered some spins as well.

I just acquired a 3rd promo CD single for "Living In Danger" that is similar to other rush-release/re-service Arista discs from this era. There is no printing anywhere on the disc; it's a factory-pressed CD with matrix ASCD2782. The disc was sent to radio along with a letter that reads:

Dear AC Programmer,

Due to popular demand, enclosed is the new version of Ace of Base's "Living In Danger." As you know, this group has had tremendous success at the AC format with "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around." We plan to continue this trend with this new edit of "Living In Danger."

This edit is better suited for the AC listening audience and we encourage you to give it a try.

This is a HOT time for this group and we see no "Sign" of Ace of Base slowing down.

Thanks for your continued support,

Mark Rizzo

The disc has one track that runs an actual 3:12. Doing a side-by-side comparison with the "Single Remix," they have edited out the segment beginning at 0:18 with the distorted spoken lyrics. At this point, there is a short crossfade that goes into the first verse. They also extended the second chorus by inserting half of the first chorus, which is why this edit times out to the same length as the "Single Remix."
