Even though I think this song saw little if any Billboard chart action in 1975, and these days is a classic rock radio staple, picked up a really nice promo 45 for this song. Listed time is 3:17, actual is 3:18.

***EDITED TO CORRECT LISTED LABEL TIME***

eriejwg, as a single, "Green Grass & High Tides" was a Johnny-come-lately; it wasn't released on 45 (Arista 0213) until November, 1976. The stock copy's B-side, "Prisoner" was from the group's 1976 second LP, Lady In Waiting. But AM radio wasn't interested, and the single never even bubbled under in Billboard. Perhaps Arista's promotion force was too preoccupied with its predecessor (0212) "Weekend In New England."

As you can see, the timings on my stock and promo copies differ slightly from yours, both showing 3:17. Actual time on both stereo and mono sides is 3:16. I always thought that this was a pretty good edit.

A second shot at the bigtime fared no better, as the 1978 'live' edit (Arista 0338) from the Bring It Back Alive album was also a Billboard no-show. The flip of this double A-sided promo, "Holiday," was also AWOL on the charts. (Actual time of 'live' "Green Grass..." is 4:16.)

Hi John & 'Yah Shure',

Please don't forget the 45 of the studio version is a slightly different mix & the ending is nowhere to be found on the full nine-minute version -- therefore the only place to get the single version digitally is on the comps 'Highs Of The Seventies [WSP] & (maybe) '70's Southern Rock' [Coyote]
