Hi People,
Does anyone out there in import-CD-land know if the hit version of "I Believe" exists IN STEREO on CD?
I own the hit version in stereo on a reissue 45, but it seems that all CDs I find are in mono--I would like it in stereo from a tape source.
It was a top-40 hit in '64, it's a great performance, & it's mixed well in stereo (but it's real tough to find on CD in stereo...).
Thank you.
Andy

It is a great song, Andrew. Unfortunately, the only stereo I've found are remakes.

Yes, John -- There are a lot of remakes of "I Believe" on CD.
There are a few CDs with "added stereo tracks" to the mono original to make it sound stereo.
But the original in stereo sounds really nice. Lead vocals in the center, strings to the right, band & choral vocals to the left.

What is the info on the reissue 45 where it can be found in stereo? Can you provide a label scan?

Andy, I have the original version of "I Believe" on CD, in stereo, on the released-back-in-1989, Deram (UK) CD titled "Bachelors' Hits". It is catalog # Deram (UK) 820 638-2. Why this package is on Deram, I have no idea. All tracks are from the original London recordings, with the individual tracks' recording/copyright specified - the info for "I Believe" is the correct "1963", despite it's 8/64 U.S. peak. The sound quality is outstanding.

To Tom Diehl:
Sadly I don't own the reissue 45; I dubbed it from a friend. As I recal it was a Collectibles/Polygram Special Products 45.
To Jim:
Thanks for the tip! I will try to track that CD down!!

My commercial 45, confirmed as London 9672, has a listed time of (2:00), but an actual time of (2:05).

For anyone else who may still be looking for this song in stereo, I found it in stereo on the 3 cd Disky collection Moments To Remember: The Ultimate Collection.
