The actual 45 run time of Laura Branigan's "Solitaire" is 4:04, not 4:00 as stated on the record label. (Run time info courtesy of abagon.)

Anybody know of a digital source of the 12" of Solitaire, running about 5:16?
I have one copy but it sounds like was recorded WAY too hot from a beat-up vinyl copy... not really airable...

Hey Gene,
Haven't transferred this one yet but it you can wait about a week (heading out of town for work), I can give you a real good vinyl transfer which I am sure will be better than the one you have now.
Let me know
-Jeff

AWESOME... thank you so much! I've only been able to find the "Hot Tracks" mix on an import, and it's not the original Atlantic 12"... I would apologize for being particular, but on this site I feel like everybody understands. :-)
(Good luck in your work and have a great and safe trip!)

Love the 12" of Solitaire. I really wish they would reissue Laura's catalog and include the 12" mixes of Solitaire, Gloria, The Lucky One, Self Control, Satisfaction, Spanish Eddie, Shattered Glass, etc.

All current db CDs, including the one from its parent album, "Branigan 2",
include the same (4:04-4:05) version. The original appearance of the longer
12" mix for "Solitaire" was likely the promo 12" single (Atlantic DMD 612)
they sent us back in 1983. It came in a generic, Atlantic 12" promo
cardboard sleeve. One side has a listed (4:05) "short version", while the other
side includes a listed (5:16) "long version".

With the demise of Gold Legion Records, which was planning to release "Branigan 2" with the 12" version of "Solitaire" as a bonus cut, I was wondering if anyone knows of any import CDs that contain this.
The 12" of "Shattered Glass" recently came out on the Stock Aitken Waterman 32-single CD box set. Still hoping the extended versions of "Spanish Eddie" and "Solitaire" see the light of day on CD.

Branigan 2 is now reissued with the bonus track of Solitaire 12" mix.

The wait is over: Other Half Entertainment, the late Laura Branigan’s production company, has recently reissued her 1983 sophomore album Branigan 2 on CD in a new edition expanded with one additional track, the 12-inch mix of the leadoff single “Solitaire.”

I've heard the 12" (both on vinyl and what was issued on this CD). As far as I can hear, it's just the regular version looped to be longer, not remixed at all. So this reissued CD is almost an unneeded CD for me (I could make the long edit). If there's a mix difference, it's very subtle and I don't hear it - which kind of defeats the purpose of doing a 12" REMIX.

BTW, there is a website where I found a nice remix of "Solitaire". I think it was done years later, and probably not licensed by Atlantic. Yet, I felt it still kept to the sound of what an early '80s remix would be and not overly 1990s or whenever/however later it was actually done.

You may already know this but the 7:03 mix is the Hot Tracks mix which was actually done back in 1983 as a DJ only release.
